Treat Every Stranger as a Friend

CEO's BLOG July 13,2009

I founded Pawsfree.Org back in January 1999 and my plans were as follows below this is from the original site aww it's cute now I think I know more about building a web site and now I have more time LOL

On Dec 4, 1999 I was on my way to pick up medicine from the vet to take to a foster care home of one of my rescued cats when the vehicle I was driving a 1999 GMC safari lost its brakes. I hit 3 vehicles at 35 MPH and should not have lived...heheheh might I say YAY lol I lived. I hit my head at least 4 times and suffered a severe T.raumatic B.rain I.njury. Life changed in 30 seconds. Over the last ten years I have relearned to talk (now get me to shut up) walk, read and write. I have severe dyslexia now so my former work as a high paid consultant for internet auctions and online security for business and government is gone. I am a professional at rebuilding my life from nothing don't try this at home!

Survival is what I do best.

NEVER GIVE UP!

Time to get back into the worldwide fight for animal welfare!

Ellen Degeneres twittered about GOV CA bill to limit time animals may be kept in shelters.

Here is my letter to Gov Arnold Schwartzenegger

Limiting time animals are in shelters is the reverse of what legislation should be attempting. Setting up the standards of care and policing those in shelters is a far better plan for animal welfare. All you are doing is allowing threshhold killing to take affect. In PA healthy animals cannot be euthanized withing 48 hours of entering a shelter. This is to prevent the horror of owners rushing to find their pet when it escapes has been killed. I do not know who you have to advise you in these situations, but common sense alone tells you that this will lead to more deaths. Overcrowded shelters can be thinned by death yes, but there is a better option.

Do you even know what options are available for your state? Are there any facilities to take in large animals i.e. horses or exotic animals i.e. tigers and circus animals?

When I decided to get involved in helping I thought long and hard should I open yet another shelter or should I use my abilities and experience to help existing shelters find funding and help when overrun with large animal numbers. My goal is a large rehabilitation facility that handles all animals needs. Here I see animals put to death because they needed 2 weeks of antibiotics. One dog I saved needed rehabilitation for a leg injured when her former owner threw her from a moving vehicle to dispose of her. I saw an otherwise healthy dog loving and vibrant fitting her breed standards for personality. I had to fight the shelter volunteers to adopt her and in the end I won and for ten dollars (Amber) was saved. I took her and helped her recover, contacted her breed rescue, and placed her. I seldom take in animals to rehabilitate at home(I have a small apt), but when I see the 'red tag'(put death today)on an otherwise healthy loving animal I had to take action. I realize the overwhelming task of policing these facilities.

I understand the burden placed upon you to determine what is best for your constitutants. Comes down to money. Don't give already mismanaged understaffed shelters a LEGAL way to euthanize with a time limit stamp. No life should have an expiration date.

Teri Davis

I will repeat that

NO LIFE SHOULD HAVE AN EXPIRATION DATE!

OK in a nutshell I want to build a facility to handle large animals and large seizures to nurse those back to health that otherwise would be euthanized. Here in PA there is no place to rehabilitae large animals horses , cows farm animal seizures. Rehabilitation is three things health, physical therapy needs, behavioural modification needs.

My second inspiration comes from emergency medicine. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have emergency vet care responders? Vetmedics to call and respond to help?

No more moving animals and stressing them with transport in bouncy back seats risking human lives in distressed races to usually remote ER clinics?

My goals are the same now as then. George W. Scott Memorial Animal Welfare & Rescue League (GWSMAWRL) is kinda chunky to say lol it will be the main name with sub-programs like

Pawsfree and other ideas as they come like an educational training facility for anyone in animal care.

Our Goals...

After ten years I am now ready to take up the fight for animal welfare again.

Everything has changed the laws the internet. PAWSFREE is still listed as a non-profit organization in the state of PA. However, I need by law to incorporate so now I need the state fee as well as the legal

fees to set up GWSMAWRL And Pawsfree legally.

I have tried to raise funds in the past, but have ALWAYS spent the money on shelters for food and rescuing animals in the past. *sighs* I must be focused now I cannot do that I have no vehicle to travel to shelters to monitor care and keep lists of animals present in my never ending fight to stop threshhold killing. Good shelters are always glad to see me bad ones say Oh it's HER . lol

HONESTY

So first and foremost I need the legal fees shouldn't be more than 750 dollars to set up everything legal as laws are now requiring. (that includes 100 dollars to set up a Inc bank account governed by the corporation officers)I am not working I am on SSI as permanently disabled so I live on 650 dollars a month and can no longer spend from pocket I am not able to feed myself but the animals need help always. I can give up lunchs to pay for this internet access. I believe it is the least I can do. I also am working on artwork to donate to the Pittsburgh zoo so they can genernate funds from t shirts and prints. My website is www.cpick.net and it will be hosting Pawsfree free of course.

I am retrained in silver and metal smithing and making celtic jewelry. I was traveling to Irish and Celtic festivals but no longer can get rides from my best friend due to her work schedule. I also lost my workspace my sponsor died. George O. Scott was Georges father and he was a very incredible person.

I am saving money to buy a workshed for the back yard so I can make silver findings and sell them to other jewelers. That will generate income for food and for a vehicle in the future. No plan is impossible just keep trying!!

My favorite jokes I came up with cause humor is the best solution lol and if they offend you oh please lighten up LOL

If I didn't freeze on stage like a deer in a spotlight I could be a comic. I am starving anyway so what would it hurt?

If they are throwing tomatoes and rotten things be glad it isn't canned goods.

Then again...DEMAND canned goods at least you will have supper.

I need to be rich so I can do all I want to do guess I will have to earn it the old fashioned way. Since I cannot be a prostitute I will have to work hard for a living.

I am so bad at relationships my right hand isn;t even speaking to me anymore. Talk to the hand PLEASSSE!

ok nuff said I hope you leave with a light heart many dark things are in life but don;t dwell sweetheart I have learned all bad things pass money troubles come and go nothing matters but who you love and oh man love everyone live and act with kindness and tolerance. Because animals are not the only ones who need help and support!
